Weekly Status Update: May 16th, 2026
Hand pain forced a slowdown, active learning runs on scorecards and maps, shipping updates to Crowns Keeper and SpinCall, expanding Top3 across platforms, and a quick experiment with a gaze-based accessibility tool.
This week has been tons of projects across both Dewy Golf and side project apps. An interesting challenge arose personally, where my hand started hurting. I’ve been working a lot of hours, most of it typing, and probably developed some poor hand postures. Luckily it’s not carpal tunnel, and using a brace has helped. I did try golfing with the hand pain and had to pause.
Let’s get to updates.
Scorecards
I’ve been scraping sites I have, and am starting active learning on new scorecards and course maps. I found my model was okay but had a lot of confusion, given it was only a couple hundred manually annotated cards. I did a lot of high quality annotating (including individual rows and columns with their data types), so I’m hoping that after collecting around 20k golf courses I’ll have a couple thousand scorecards and maps to train against.
Part of this process was adding the ability to show and capture new scorecards in Dewy Golf. Bit of server work for that.
Maps
I’ve been doing a couple rounds of active learning on about 14k images, and things are progressing nicely. Hoping one more run gets me there, then I’ll kick off the first round of v1 maps collection.
Side Projects
- Shipped updates to both Crowns Keeper (link) and SpinCall (link). Unified monetization, added more localizations, ASO work, and added the ability to save playing partners so you don’t have to re-type names every time you play with the same groups.
- Continued efforts on Top3. Really happy with iOS, and added macOS, Watch, and visionOS. Working on a native but unified feel across all platforms.
- Given the hand issue, I started playing with “Gaze.” It’s an accessibility tool to watch the user’s gaze and hopefully enable clicking, or cue voice input. It’s pretty cool what you can get done so fast. Shared a demo with a couple folks.
