Weekly Status Update: July 18th, 2026

The maps pipeline hits a new wrinkle — untangling multiple courses that share one name — and I lean on CV registration against real maps to break them apart. Plus, first steps into marketing and a photo shoot.

Back at it. The course pipeline is humming along, but I always seem to be finding new wrinkles to account for. This week I’ve also been thinking more and more about marketing/go-to-market.

Let’s get to updates.

Maps

This week I discovered the fun of multiple courses that fell under the same name. So, for example:

These might be (3) 18- or 9-hole courses under the same banner. They’re typically close/touching, so how do I break them apart in logical ways? I’ve tried a couple of methods, tweaking my spatial reasoning, but what I’m finding is best is providing my spatial reasoning engine MORE data. By using the data I’ve already scraped (scorecards), I’m doing good ol’ CV registration against real maps. I look for real-world points to register, and align them. The fun part is trying to register a pictorial representation of the course (typically animation/cartoon looking) against the real world. You can’t really use color or scale, so I’ve tried a couple of methods, including slicing the map to see if I can register against it.

Marketing

I’ve been keeping a running list of ideas for marketing. One of the things I think I need at this stage is my own “stock photos/videos” I can use in multiple places, including social, website, and in-app (i.e. paywall). I’m making a list, buying some “stage wear” aka nice shorts, and getting ready for a shoot this upcoming week.
